A global Fund to close the gender gap in sport
There is a global gender gap in sport. Women and girls in sport worldwide are denied equitable opportunities, treatment, pay, and resources. The Side of Equity™ Fund will drive gender equity in sport by supporting athletes who are making a difference in their community.
Partners join forces with the Foundation by integrating either Side of Equity™ or Shot of Equity™ into a Restaurant, Bar or Campaign centered around raising awareness for gender equity in sport.

It started as a conversation between two Women founders Stef Strack the founder of the VOICEINSPORT Foundation and Jenny Nguyen who runs The Sports Bra, a women focused sports bar in Portland.

In 2025 the VOICEINSPORT Foundation introduced the Shot of Equity™ at The Sports Bra.

the VIS Advocate Program
The VIS Advocate Program is a leadership program for High School and college athletes that gives them a platform to advocate for gender equity in sport. VIS Advocates learn about Title IX, evaluate their schools for Title IX Compliance, start VIS Chapters at their schools, and participate in national advocacy initiatives. VIS Advocates develop skills and knowledge they use to make an impact on girls and women in sport in their communities.
Making a difference takes a team. With your contribution to the Side of Equity Fund, the VOICEINSPORT Foundation is able to support VIS Advocates and their local VIS Chapters in their advocacy efforts. Your donation will go toward funding Chapter events, advocate community initiatives, in-person Title IX Trainings, and more.

The Side of Equity™ Fund is designed to support initiatives that close the equity gap for Women Athletes.
The first initiative that the Fund focused on was for the 2023 Women’s World Cup where there was a clear gap in Prize Money and low salaries for women athletes across many of the National Governing Bodies. Launched in June of 2023 the Side of Equity™ Fund raised money for women athletes playing at the WWC and aimed to also honor the winners from the past 8 WWC’s.
Women athletes have been fighting for equitable treatment and pay for decades. Inequalities in prize money go back all the way to the very first Women’s World Cup in 1991 where there was no prize money vs $3.5M awarded to the winner of the Men’s World Cup in 1990. It wasn’t until 2007 when the Women’s World Cup players received prize money from FIFA at $5.8M compared to the men’s 2006 prize money of $238M, resulting in just 2.46% of the men’s prize money from 2007.
